Continuing research on the different families are still in process, and more families are being found. There is research being done on the Skinner and Dorman side of my family, Irvin M. Skinner and Carla Iola Dorman Skinner. The following information has been copied from www.genforum.com's Dorman genforums. This may help you on your Dorman research.

Any CORRECTIONS AND VERIFICATION of information to me that you may have available
would be appreciated to help make this a more accurate website.

Does any one know the parents of Allen Dorman? B.1758(9)N.C., D. Twiggs County, Ga. Sept.9,1831. He was married 1)Mary Elizabeth McNeely 2)Martha Pickett

The will may not have stated children, it may have mentioned names, and the person Carmelita on the ancestry.com's board posting, dated Mar 23, 2001, is the person I need to contact for the will. She states:
(In reply to a Michael)
"Michael, you probably have more info on your posting than I do. I have had the hardest time finding anything on my Andrew Jackson DORMAN. I often wonder if my Andrew Jackson DORMAN is the son of Martha DORMAN who's second husband Marcus Vandevier. Marcus died in 1835 in Monroe Co GA. Named in his will were the following DORMAN children:
Littleton P.
Cullen
Allen
David J.P.
Thomas
Both of the names Cullen and Littleton appear in Sumter Co Ga records in the mid to late 1800's. These names also appear in Edgecombe NC late 1700's and early 1800's. Haven't been able to tie these two together.
Carmelita"

4. William b. 5 Sep 1715
A lot of this is from records on the Somerset Co, MD USGENWEB site.
There is also a Nutter marriage to Mary L.Dorman b 1646
this I found while doing a Google.com search engine. It has invaluable sources on John b.1603 and his wife Sarah.
My question now is : How many of us in the Dorman world are connected to this line. And if you can make a connection, would you be so kind as to post your info to this query.
I am looking for my linkage to Michael Dorman b. 1706 or possilby William b. 1715. My Michael would probably be a son/grandson of one of these men. He would have married a woman by the name of Nancy Gallathian/Gallatham/Galathian/Gallertham.
They had:
1. Michael (I would like to say that there may be a connection here to Allen Dorman according to another genforum post #860 copied below.)
2. Jesse
3. Benjamin
4. Elizabeth
5. Sameul SR.
6. unknown dau
All being born between 1770 and 1785.
I have found evidence of the name of Michael Dorman in various counties in NC. Montgomery, Edgecombe, Franklin, possilby Granville, Chatham, and Orange.
These dates were ranging from the 1740's thru 1790's. I am sure there must be a father and son to this data. Also we know that one Benjamin Dorman (md. Jane Little)and Elizabeth Dorman (md. Elisha Kirk 1802, Orange Co, NC)were involved in Orange Co, NC records and that Benjamin Dorman and the dau of Elizabeth and Elisha Kirk (Edna Kirk md, Joseph Cates) were in Macoupin Co, IL in 1837/1840 per records there.
If you are a part of this long line of Dormans, I would like to exchange data with you.
Susan

Becky,
I was looking through my Dorman file and came across this message I saved from two years ago. At that time it meant nothing to me because I hadn't gotten back that far. Now it may be our link to the past. Allen Dorman and Mary Elizabeth McNeely were my GGGG grandparents through their son Wiley Dorman and his second wife, Elmina Jones. The message concerns the Dorman family of Edgecombe Co., NC, who were said to have come from Virginia. It reads:
MICHAEL DORMAN appears on a few deeds in Chowan Co., NC in 1714 and 1723. Also on deeds in Edgecombe Co., NC, between 1732-1758. He died about 1770.
MITCHEL DORMAN appears on deeds with MICHAEL DORMAN as early as 1758. MITCHEL DORMAN died in 1785 in Edgecombe Co. His wife was MARY OLIVE DORMAN.
At MITCHEL DORMAN'S death, he left the following children who are thought to be minors: MITCHEL DORMAN, WILLIE DORMAN, ALLEN DORMAN (said to have been named after Roger Allen, a friend), CULLEN DORMAN, JOHN DORMAN, SALLY DORMAN, ANN DORMAN, DELILAH DORMAN and NANCY DORMAN.
According to the researcher of the family, the following children moved to Georgia about 1795-1800: WILLIE DORMAN, ALLEN DORMAN, CULLEN DORMAN AND ANN DORMAN.
(End of message)
I received the message on the Dorman Roots-L mailing list from the e-mail address MarionOfCa@webtv.net on March 29, 2000. He or she offered to put me in touch with the researcher but I didn't follow up (stupid me!). If that person is still out there, I hope they will contact me. This could be our Allen Dorman who married Mary Elizabeth McNeely. I believe another Dorman researcher said he found a Cullen Dorman living near our Allen in Warren Co.,GA as indicated on the 1800 and 1805 Warren County Tax list.
Hope this helps us all.
Judy

Teri,
There were several Fowlers in Meriwether County, GA, which was formed from Troup. This is the area some of the Dormans seemed to have been in before they moved to Chambers Co., AL (not Meriwether, but definitely Troup). I haven't been able to connect to these Fowlers but you might give it a try. There were also some Fowlers in Randolph County, AL before mine moved to Cleburne. Have not been able to connect to these either. If we could find parents and siblings of our Nathan Fowler in Gwinnett (abt. 1800 - abt 1860), it would probably open up more avenues and allow us to connect with more Georgia and Alabama Fowlers, but we are stuck. I have all of Nathan's children and much on their descendants, but nothing before Nathan. So far, we have not been able to connect his family to the other Nathan Fowler of Jackson and Warren counties in GA, although both our Nathan and that Nathan had sons named Zephaniah. You would think that would be a piece of cake, wouldn't you? Well, it ain't.
It appears that we are definitely Dorman cousins through Allen the elder who died in Twiggs County, GA in 1831. Would be interested to know where you found the Bible records of Martha Dorman (on your Web site). The name Littleton as a surviving child may connect them to the Fayette County Dormans. If you would like my descendancy through Wiley and his second wife, Elmina Jones, including their children, etc., would be happy to share.
In checking my files, I find that several of Wiley's children by his first wife, Martha Newberry, went west --- Green Washington Dorman went to Mississippi, James Monroe Dorman went to Louisiana, and Susannah Dorman May went to Arkansas. Leander (Lee) Dorman, Wiley's son with Elmina Jones, is said to have gone to Arkansas to visit an aunt and disappeared. His clothes were found beside a mine shaft and it was thought he was robbed and thrown down the shaft. He was never found. This information is from notes on the Dorman family left by Wiley's granddaughter, Lessie Lawson Eneas, who was in Chambers Co. Your Rudolph Henry being an uncle might mean Wiley's children went west together or followed other relatives who had gone that way before.
I also have information from the obituary of Allen Dorman who died in Twiggs County in 1831, and I found him in the 1830 Twiggs County census. Just let me know what you want or need.
Judy
